Non-profit audits. Between Hayashi Wayland and Deloitte, she worked for the AICPA Center for Audit Quality (CAQ) involved in influencing public policy/standard-setting related to public company audits – auditing standards, accounting standards, SEC rules & regulations, PCAOB rules/standards, anti-fraud initiatives, improving the auditor’s reporting model for investors/financial reporting stakeholders among others

What Kristen enjoys most about her job:
Drawn to client service as opposed to just a position in accounting as it allows her to interact with different people from diverse backgrounds every day on ever changing issues. She also really enjoys the connection to the community. Many Hayashi Wayland clients provide valuable goods and services to the Monterey County community – either in a commercial or non-profit capacity.

She loves gardening (“plants don’t talk back like my kids”), traveling and anything outdoors that gets her outside. She’s a native New Englander so there is a lot to explore still on the West Coast – even after living in San Francisco, Carmel, and Portland for the past 8 years or so.
